Love doesn't take a break

Teva

An empathetic film to get more people caring about caregivers.

Unpaid carers are the hidden engine of healthcare. In the U.K., 4.3 million people start providing unpaid care each year, saving the state an estimated 132 billion pounds sterling ($159 billion), and, in the U.S., 56% of employed caregivers work full time. This is Teva's newest film, following others aimed at highlighting caregivers, and has shared their stories and provided advice on its Life Effects website.

'Love doesn't take a break', directed by award-winning director, Anders Hallberg (Great Guns), follows a woman as she navigates her day. She faces a number of overwhelming tasks including taking her father to the doctors and supporting him throughout the day, looking after her children, and managing a busy salon. We take people on an emotional rollercoaster, from visceral exhaustion through to beautiful, light-hearted moments of joy, ending with a poignant reminder that ‘love doesn’t take a break’. The film is a raw and relatable depiction of life as a caregiver with the aim to evoke emotion and empathy.

The voiceover is provided by actor John Rhys-Davies, famous for his roles in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Indiana Jones franchise, who strikes a raw and tender chord drawn from the actor’s own experience of caring for his wife until her death from Alzheimer’s disease in 2010.
